xx Looking Around(Savan)
« Thread started on: Oct 29th, 2005, 2:48pm »

A pale boy walked down the crowded streets in the early morning sunlight. Stall owners were just setting out there things and tables to show off their wares. Shop owners unlocked their doors and started their morning routine. The boy who walked here went mostly unnoticed since the others on the street were either getting ready to sell things, or people coming to buy said things. He, however, just came to look; to get a glimpse of a better part of the city in the daylight.

Abel surveyed the area around him with wide blue eyes, fascinated by every brightly-coloured cloth that was displayed, or the foods being prepared. And the odd assortment of people that were slowly starting to file into the area.

As he walked, an old childish habit of trying to walk only on the cobblestones and not on the cracks in between took over. He glanced downwards every now and then with a wide grin and proceeded to jump and tiptoe over the cobblestones. A few times he bumped into people, and hurriedly apologized to them before continuing on his way.

"You should pay attention." Dropped pearls, singular promises falling in rainbowed elegance from his lips as that head, forshadowed by the rakishly tilted tophat. He stood between two stalls, watching the passerby who carelessly found his way into other people's space.

Something about that boy- a slight alteration, an unclear purity. No...there was a taint similar to his own hanging like an expensive cloak about his shoulders and Savan smiled, his lips curving in a smirk meant not for him, but for the situation in general.

Savan stepped forward, watching the boy curiously as he lightly tugged at the cufflniks of his tailored cloak.

Abel froze where he stood in mid-stride, an awkward position since he had still been tiptoing over the stones on the ground. He sighed at stood like any normal person would, finally giving up on his little quest to not step on the cracks. He turned bright blue eyes to the person who had spoken to him; a man with a sort of elegance about him that stood tucked away between two stalls.

The boy grinned broadly, and said in a voice that had a thick french accent, "Oh, thanks I guess. I'll try to be more careful" he said. He met the man's gaze with curiousity before looking the other over. Was he an aristocrat? He looked like one, what with his fine clothing. Abel felt an itch at the back of his mind, demanding answered that ran a mile a minute through his brain.

He walked closer to the man, and asked innocently, "What're you doing, hiding away like that?" he asked, and then shot out another, completely unrelated question, "Are you rich?"

The accent was hard to decipher, or rather, not that it was hard, but rather a steady drowsiness settled over him, pushing darkly through his thoughts. It was easy to allow such to settle and he smiled, lightening the ice rimmed visage of his gaze.

"I am not hiding." He responded, his words a mere retort masked in slurred silk, his gaze languid as his step brought him further away from the shaded light.

"And no, I am not rich." He smiled, a cheshire grin that gave away nothing but hinted at the truth, the same truth perhaps that the boy hid.

Abel tilted his head at the man, and the blatant answers he gave that offered no explanation outside of what he'd said. The wide grin that the man gave was noticed by the boy, who only tilted his head at the man, wondering what he could possibly be grinning about.

The smile hinted that this man knew certain things, like where he worked. A knowing kind of smile. Such thoughts ran through Abel's mind, but where pushed away. He smiled back at the man with a childish innocence that he'd adopted over the years.

"Ah, so you're just standing there and being generally not-rich" Abel said, nodding his head as if with understanding. "Could've fooled me though! I thought you were really were an aristocrat or something!"

He thought for a second before asking, "How come you dress like that? Is it for where you work?". He asked this, still not picking up any hint that the man worked the same ways he did. He glanced the man over again, wondering what proffession had it's workers dress so fancily. He said finally, "Oh, by the way, I'm Abel. Just thought you should know since we're talking and all. What's your name?"

Amusement flickered past his features, colouring his seriousness with tainted enjoyment. Doubt played with assurdeness in his mind, as he attempted to figure this young male out.

Oubliette eyes, fathomless irony in muted color, watched Abel silently, considering the question. "Aristocracy is a farce." He spoke gently but a light snarl shifted noticably through his words.

Boredly he tugged the cufflinks again, arching an eyebrow towards the other question. No- he was never shy about his profession. It was something of pride- a mute point which spiraled into his being. "I dress this way because I like to. However my profession requires no particular dresscode." He murmured softly, sidestepping the boy, scanning him covertly.

"Savan. It's a pleasure." A slight inclination of his head and fleeting grin.

Abel’s grin flickered, disappearing for only the smallest of moments before reappearing again. Nevermind it was somewhat half-hearted. Something about the man made him edgy and he wasn’t sure as to why. It might have been the way the other male watched him. Or the air around the man seemed to make him nervous, and yet he was oddly drawn towards it. He understood llittle of what the man said, especially about the aristocracy, but didn't question any further. He didn't want to appear too annoying.

“Okay, Savan…” he repeated so he could remember the name, as the man side-stepped passed him. “Nice to meet you as well”. He tilted his head at the mention of Savan’s profession, still having not been given a blunt answer. He grinned again, honestly this time, “I guess where I work you don’t have a dress code either”. He giggled at a thought; he spent a good deal of his time at work without clothing anyways once he had caught the eye of a customer. He however, didn’t mention this to Savan, but said instead, “I’d like to hear more about where you work, if not now then some other time” he shrugged, “I work mostly at nights. I think I should probably be sleeping right now, but it’s neat talking to you all the same”

Savan laughed, a truer ring this time as opposed to his normal violence tinged amusements. If his quess was correct, and this boy's profession was as he assumed, he could envision Abel as very successful- but assumptions mattered little to him.

Gloved fingers reached upward to brush aside some of Abel's hair, a smooth gesture, never void of sexuality, but by no means overtly wanton. "No- I wouldn't imagine you to have one." Understanding and contempt filtrated through his voice.

Whores, prostitutes, they were not worth it in his eyes and yet, he engaged in the same activities. He did it never for money, but instead for a room to sleep in, fresh food in the early hours, sometimes a 'client's' clothes. But his purpose was purely pointless.

"I work mainly nights as well little hurri." He murmured softly, darkened eyes dancing platonically. At the giggle an eyebrow arched, his lips curving in a bemused grin.

"What is so amusing?" He was curious, intrigued by this youth.

Abel did his best to keep his grin plastered to his face, while resisting the urge to flinch as the man suddenly laughed. Even more so when Saven brushed away a lock of hair from his face, not expecting a gesture like that. He however, nodded at the man's comment. "No, not really"

He tilted his head to the side in confusion and blurted out without a second thought, "What does 'hurri' mean?". He bit his lip though, finally figuring the whole little game of "side-step the proffession". A dark red blush crept from his ears to his face at the knowledge that the man knew, and probably was working the same way he did. Except maybe under different circumstances.

He turned his attention to the man's question to try and disspell the blush on his face. "Amusing? I was just thinking about dresscodes and how at work you really don't..." he trailed off, the blush firing up on his pale face once again. Truth be told, he was no virgin anymore. But he acted enough like one to sell himself as one, and did just that on most occassions.

His gaze laughed, sprung magically into quelled submission while his features drowned languidly into dream. He was composed for all the ire in his mind, for all the heat radiating in his body. Abel, as this boy called himself, flushed with pale pinkness, a darkening rose blooming upon his cheeks and neck.

"Hurri means little dear." He murmured, stepping backward slighlty, returning to that distance which had lived so comfortably before he moved to brush away some of the other's hair. "It is a term of endearment." He murmured once more, lips turning upward in a slow and shaded smile.

"Just speak it little hurri. Say what you wish." He whispered, his voice falling untended unto the air and then he grinned again, this time in full humor. "You don't wear much at your work. You wear very little, ci?" He whispered again, slightly louder this time.

The knot in Abel's stomache lessened to some extent as he watched the man step away from him. He nodded at the other's explanation of the word. He was about to try and change the subject, hoping to get both of their minds away from work, until Savan had started speaking again. In a low whisper that got slightly louder; only slightly.

Abel paled considerably and yelped, "Not so loud!". He then blushed again, realizing he was the one that was really being loud. He glanced around once, but saw no one that was really paying them much attention. He kept his wide blue eyes away from the man and said in a much quieter voice, "Yes, I don't wear much sometimes". He dared a glance in Savan's direction, utterly peeved that the man seemed to find humor in this.

"No need to get snarly." He murmured flippantly, flashing a dangerously tender grin towards Abel. "Though it is curious to find one so avoidant of their profession." He murmured gently, smiling as he shifted his weight to the left foot, moving one hand to rest against his hip.

"Why are you so squeamish?" He murmured, drawing closer, swirling gaze flashing deeply, avoidantly despite the fact that they gazed immediately on the younger man.

“I wasn’t getting snarly” Abel argued in a quiet voice, feeling more and more ill at ease under Savan’s gaze.

“Ce n'est pas évident?” he asked and walked over to Savan to lightly grab ahold of the lapels on the man’s coat. He absently straightened them out before letting his hands drop down to his sides again, and looked up at the man again. “Isn’t it obvious?” he repeated, this time not in French, “It’s not something to be proud of. It’s not the best job out there when you’re talking about respectability”

He sighed, feeling shame towards himself rising. He easily covered it up with a mask of happiness; a wide grin that showed no other emotions going on behind it. “Well, at least I’ve got a job, right? I mean, I could be homeless or something, and that wouldn’t be good at all!”. He nodded, as if to confirm his own statement.

"Oui, il est evident." He returned in a silken croon, a smile plastered to his lips though it was hazily drawn in. Unsure whether it was a real smile or a false one, Savan left it there none the less.

"It is nothing to be ashamed of hurri." He whispered, leaning against the wall just a step to his right. A hand reached up to brush dark hair from the corner of his eyes, his gaze focusing directly upon Abel.

"We have the best of both worlds- doing what we do." Savan spoke with a type of forced truth, as though he were trying to convince himself of what he said. But it wasn't quite there. The truth was tiredly drawn.

Abel blinked at Savan, not quite sure if he had heard the other speaking his own native language or if he were hearing things. "Oh! I didn't know you spoke French!" he exclaimed excitedly. "It's great to hear every one in a while, so I don't completely forget the language!".

He stared back at Savan, very well aware of the other's eyes on him. He rocked on his heels and said, "I don't know if you really meant what you said, but it's nice anyways". He hummed something for a second and continued, "I don't know if I believe you myself. But it's still a nicer way of thinking about it I guess"
